   around middle school is where most kids get theirs
   about 7th grade

   i got mine age 11 thats when all my friends had one so my parents decided i will need one for when i get older and start going out a bit longer and it was right

    In our family it is 14 & involved in an extracurricular activity.
    I was 38 when I got my first cellphone!!!

    I earned mine at age 16. But nowa days I would say an appropriate age would be 14.

    Most kids get them too young. If you are 11 or 12, you don’t need a cell phone as a replacement for adult supervision. 14 or 15 is a good age to start them off with something simple. No iphones….you gotta earn your stripes before you get that!

    12 – 14 approximate age range most kids get first cell phones
    got mine at 12

    It all depends. My daughter is 10 and she has a cell phone because myself and her dad are no longer together, so I need a way to contact her when she’s not with me. Also middle school is a good age to have a phone when you have to walk home from the bus.

    I had one at 7, but all i did was play snake on it, and it was only a hand-me-down.

    My first real phone was when i was 10. I had it for Christmas but i still didn’t really use it.

    I would say you need one around 11 or 12 because you need them for after school and stuff like that. All my friends had one by the time we were 11.

    I got my first cell phone when I was 16, but that was in early 2004 and while a lot of teens had cell phones then, it’s nowhere the amount that have them now. I would guess the typical age now is probably more like preteens to early teen years, which seems young to me, but that’s probably just because I grew up without one.
